A rare stoneware spirit flask from the renowned potteries of Bennington, Vermont, depicting a graceful mermaid with finely molded details. The piece is finished in a rich, mottled Rockingham glaze, a signature of 19th-century American ceramic tradition that captures a sense of coastal folklore and early industrial artistry.

Circa 1840, this period piece represents a high point in American stoneware production, made at a time when Bennington was the center of ceramic innovation.

Stoneware finished in a warm brown Rockingham glaze, featuring stilt marks to the reverse and a simple spout at the top. Rooted in the Victorian tradition, this flask connects to the mid-19th-century fascination with figural forms and durable, decorative objects for the home.
