A handsome pair of English Coalport porcelain square dishes, each featuring the intricate fantastic beasts pattern amidst vibrant floral sprays. The crisp white body and fine hand-painted details reflect the exceptional craftsmanship that established John Rose’s Shropshire factory as a leader in 18th-century ceramic art.

Circa 1740, these original period dishes were produced during the early years of the Coalport works, representing the very beginning of a storied English tradition.

Hand-painted porcelain with a lead-free glaze, featuring scalloped edges and gilded highlights that have aged with a soft, warm character. Rooted in the Rococo tradition, these dishes embody the mid-18th century’s love for ornate flowing designs and the playful elegance of English garden motifs.
