Italian Neoclassical Mecca Gilt Console with later Marble Top, Italy circa 1810

An early 19th-century Italian Neoclassical mecca gilt console with a later white and grey marble top, drilled for two lamp cords. Scrolling pierced rosettes flank a central medallion featuring a mecca gilt rosette on a white painted panel surrounded by beading. The top supported by four legs topped by mythological faces supported by twisted fluted columns that are widest in the middle. The legs rest on decorated square blocks that end in eccentric "paw" feet.
