I can think of no furniture that equals Tibetan for its colorful design and its functional nature. Late in the 20th century this furniture appeared in the West. I suspect little of it was made to begin with. A luxury for elites and scholars. We think that this piece is made from antique elements. Perhaps a painted room or shrine. The quality of the decoration is remarkable. The shallow depth of this piece is particularly hard to find and easy to place. This bright piece will add richness to most design schemes. The originals would be 17th to 19th century and smell of smoke.
