A pair of Kangxi Period Pixiu, in rare aubergine glaze in porcelain. Each Pixiu is seated on its haunches with open mouth and green beard. Chinese tradition call it the fortunate beast. It has the head of a dragon, the body of a horse and the legs of a Kylin. From the collection of R. F. Schwarz, a seasoned dealer of fine porcelain and objects, leading designer on the west coast for decades and an important contributor to the success of the San Francisco Fall antiques show until his retirement. We are pleased to be able to offer these beautiful pieces (and hundreds more) that did not make it into his new home.
