Palissy Plate, Portugal Circa 1890

Palissy was first made in France for Marie de Medici about 1620 by Bernard Palissy. An interest in Renaissance decoration caused these pieces to be revived late in the 19th century. This piece features 3 lizards and a toad on grass. We date this to about 1890.
