Set of French Samson Armorial Plates, circa 1860
A very attractive set of nine Samson porcelain plates made in France circa 1860 in the Chinese Export Armorial style. High quality hand painted plates done in the style of plates made about 120 years earlier. The Samson firm excelled at reproducing rare antique porcelains and in filling in incomplete antique sets of dishes regardless of where they where made. Samson’s best work still confounds knowledgeable dealers. The firm was active in Paris a large part of the 19th century.
